Having just returned from the war, Otto Johannes Müller founds a small business with a great deal of optimism. Working out of a laundry room, he produces the first brushes and comes up with the MÜHLE logo in 1945. After the untimely death of his father, Hans-Jürgen Müller takes over the company with 40 employees in 1965. With the fall of the Berlin Wall, Hans-Jürgen Müller takes back ownership of the expropriated family business in 1990. From now on, it operates under the name Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, which retains the MÜHLE logo. The sons Christian and Andreas Müller take over management from their father in 2008. Despite the economic crisis, the company turnover grows and the vertical range of manufacture is further increased. From a small brush manufacturer to a global brand with classic status, MÜHLE celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2020 and continues to focus on shaving culture made in the Ore Mountains. Fittingly, a treatment space is now also being opened at the MÜHLE Store London. After extensive planning and an intensive construction phase, the new Hall 4 building section at the company site in Stützengrün was completed in May 2023. Since then, the architectural firm Atelier ST and MÜHLE have received numerous awards and architectural prizes for the sustainable building. These include the best architects 25, Monocle Design Award, Saxon State Prize, and the 2024 Stifter Prize of the BDA Saxony.
